5.2 PTR data is coming in, and here's some of the things relevant to us.

T15 Gear:

Nature's Vigil:
CD down from 3 min to 1.5, and Damage buff down from 20% to 10%

Soul of the Forest:
Grants now double the Solar and Lunar energy.

I for one am glad to see these kinds of changes, moving us away from insanely burst dependent. However it brings into question how we are going to preform without gaining as much being able to stack massive burst on top of other raid CDs, like Hero. Just my first reaction.

T15 - I think I like it, it looks like a corrupted tree or branch but I think it looks a bit warlock-ish.

Natures Vigil - I don't like it from a Pve standpoint, I think its better having it as a 3min/20% damage because it lines up nicely with incarnation that way. With the change you will get a buffed NV and then an unbuffed NV basically which would most likely result in less damage overall. I assume this change is being made for Pvp burst damage reasons which would lead me to believe this will have a negative impact pvp.

The buffs to treants and SotF look interesting, not sure what the numbers will be but they are buffs none the less.

I kinda hope new SotF will become equal with Incarnation because big CDs once per 3min is really bad unless the fight is something else than tank and spank. This would line up with new NV.

T15 gear is not bad, except the Warlock helm.

Nature's Vigil change is awful, we lose burst, gain no sustained and it screws up CD timings. If anything it should be 15%/15% instead of 10%/10%. It is a buff to sustained (sorta) with a slight nerf to burst.

Soul of the Forest is very nice. It is a giant step in removing non-eclipsed casts which is a great thing. I despise the Eclipse Bar and have since they came up with the idea.

EDIT: I misread the preceding post, leaving this post for reference although everyone has figured it out already

It's not a buff to sustained DPS - it's actually a nerf because of the burst nerfs. Let's break down the cases (let's suppose you don't get partial CDs at the end of the fight without loss of generality):

1) Fight length T lies between 0 and 1.5 mins, 3 min and 4.5 min, 6min and 7.5min... Let n be the integer ceiling of T/3.

- Live: you get n buffed +20% NVs
- 5.2: you n buffed +10% NVs and n - 1 unbuffed +10% NVs

Clearly you lose damage in this case, since:

20% buffed = 10% buffed + 10% buffed > 10% buffed + 10% unbuffed
n·20% buffed > n·10% buffed + n·10% unbuffed
n·20% buffed > n·10% buffed + (n - 1)·10% unbuffed

2) Fight length T lies between 1.5 and 3 mins, 4.5 min and 6 min... Let n be the integer ceiling of T/3.

- Live: you get n buffed +20% NVs
- 5.2: you n buffed +10% NVs and n unbuffed +10% NVs

Again you lose damage (the loss is smaller but you still lose):

20% buffed = 10% buffed + 10% buffed > 10% buffed + 10% unbuffed
n·20% buffed > n·10% buffed + n·10% unbuffed

I understand what you're saying, however I'm not optimistic based on the math, I'm optimistic about the concept. I would rather us be tuned to be balanced around less long CDs. So while I agree that aspect of 5.2 is a nerf, I'm hoping other balances will provide the buff we need to be viable.
