A lot of places I’ve looked at the trinket from Elegon (http://www.wowhead.com/item=86133/light-of-the-cosmos) isn’t considered to be very good and valued quite low… However, I “won” this in LFR last night and noticed a staggering 40% uptime when testing.
Queried it with guildies and the Mage / Ele Sham both report similar uptimes.

Impressive no?

All of the raid trinkets have around 40% uptime I believe.

Who is saying that trinket isn't very good? When you say "a lot of place you've looked at" can you be more specific?

Graylo has it ranked fairly low on his trinket list, with several lower ilvl trinkets ranked above it

Trinket value is dependant on your current gear since especially crit and haste like to fluctuate in value. That's why I don't really like set in stone values for particular items.

Tagartou - Quite possibly in which case would prove this to be correct with the ranking. I notice about a 30% uptime (last time i checked) on the Darkmoon card. Not tested the rest but ofc will when/if i get teh chance to.

Eluial - I tend to use Graylo as my "place to go" checker. The time and effort he puts into his lists makes my life so much easier. Yes i know the trinkets depend on various factors as Lilija mentioned but from a quick glance it just looked very low from what i was seeing.
Also MaxDPS.com has it low (i know, take that website with a pinch of salt...) Just clearly pointing it out.

I just saw the uptime and thought i'd share
It surprised me, that's all.

The heroic version of this trinket and the heroic version of Essence of Terror are bis, no matter where your gear is at. This trinket is especially important for reaching the 8k bp. Graylo's list was done very early (9/24) and as he always says he has to guess on the ICD/Uptime of many of the trinkets.

I can confirm that:

"Light of the Cosmos" buff ( Elegon trink ) has 38%-40% uptime.
"Blessing of the Celestials" ( DMF trinker ) has 28-30% uptime.

Got this numbers based on long dummy tests and many WoL logs during last month or so.

The good thing is that most of the time both trinkets proc at the start, which means 5.5k more int during initial cds ( Inc + NV / CA ) => huge burst of over 200k, or almost 350k with bloodlust at beginning ( e.g.: Garalon )

for reference my current gear is 487 with 2 set bonus.
